VOTE FOR RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP
Brevard Municipal Election Candidate Information
Brevard municipal elections are held every odd-numbered year. This fall, city voters will elect a Mayor and two out of the five city council members.
Mayor
Maureen Copelof is running for re-election as Mayor. She was first elected in 2021 and can be credited with much of the ongoing deterioration of the city.
Restore Brevard is endorsing Chris Wiener for Brevard Mayor. Chris is a conservative leader who believes in restoring integrity, efficiency, and common sense to local leadership. He wants to create a safe city where faith, family, and freedom thrive.
City Council
Aaron Baker is running to be re-elected to the City Council. Mac Morrow will not run for reelection to the city council. There are also two Democrats running: Dean Lytle and Doug Miller. To summarize, there is one progressive incumbent and two Democrats running for two open seats on the council.
Restore Brevard endorses Rick Harbin for the Brevard City Council. Rick retired as a lieutenant from the Brevard Police Department after 14 years of service. He aims to restore the BPD to an effective police force. Since the 2021 appointment of BPD Chief Thomas Jordan, the patrol force has shrunk to eight officers, well below the required eighteen, has faced sexual harassment allegations, is being sued in federal court, and has disbanded its drug task force.
CHRIS
WIENER
Mayoral Candidate

Statement from Chris Wiener
As a conservative leader, I am committed to restoring local government to its rightful purpose: serving the people with integrity, fiscal responsibility, and a firm commitment to biblical values.
I believe in self-sufficiency, economic opportunity, and the protection of individual liberties, all while ensuring that our communities remain places where families and businesses can thrive.
I believe that by restoring integrity, efficiency, and common sense to local leadership, we can create safe communities where faith, family, and freedom thrive.
RICK
HARBIN
Brevard City Council Candidate

Statement from Rick Harbin
My name is Rick Harbin, and I’ve called Transylvania County home for 36 years, 27 of those right here in Brevard. I retired in 2024 as a Lieutenant with the Brevard Police Department after 14 years of service.
I have decided to run for City Council because I believe Brevard is starting to lose the charm that makes it so special. It’s beginning to look more like Asheville every day, and if I wanted to live in Asheville, I’d move there. The city council appears to be steering Brevard in a direction that doesn’t reflect the values or the needs of the people who live here. The priorities of the people no longer seem to matter to the Mayor or City Council.
